ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Led by Artistic Director Stuart Carden and Executive Director Angela Gieras, Kansas City Repertory Theatre is a 60-year-old regional theater. KCRep is the professional theatre in residence on the UMKC campus. Spencer Theatre, a 550-seat modified thrust theatre, is housed in the Olson Performing Arts Center. Copaken Stage is our 319 seat LORT D space, which is housed in the H&R Block world headquarters in downtown KC. The subscription season currently consists of four productions as well as the annual special presentation of A Christmas Carol and an annual community tour in the spring.

JOB OVERVIEW
The Production Electrician assists the Head Electrician with the hanging, focusing, and programming of lighting equipment used for each KCRep production. The Electrician will also assist in maintain shows, repair, and maintenance of equipment, and general clean up. This position will also assist the Lighting and Video Supervisor and Master Electrician to ensure that all projection elements for shows are in accordance with Projection Designer specks, maintain equipment, troubleshoot, and install gear for each KCRep production. The Production Electrician will also be the lighting board operator for most of KCRep productions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the Lighting and Video Supervisor and Master Electrician in hanging, focusing, and programming equipment for each production
• Programming and associated research necessary for console operations and cuing of productions
• Run and maintain the lighting/projections design after show opening, including program troubleshooting, lamp or color changes, and fixture repair
• Prepare for upcoming shows, maintain, and repair equipment, and general clean-up as assigned
• Assist in Department of Theatre shows as assigned by the Lighting and Video Supervisor
• Work with Lighting and Video Supervisor and Master Electrician or other crew members on all assigned crew calls.
• Assist in the preparation, set up/ installation of Practical Elements.
• Assist in the preparation, set up and/or installation of electrical related production elements as necessary for KCRep productions
• Assist in the support of all guest Lighting and Projection Designers
• Conduct regular maintenance to lighting equipment as directed by Lighting and Video Supervisor.
• Support and uplift KC Rep’s mission, vision, and values, and demonstrate a dedication to the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti-racism (IDEA) work
• Assist in keeping the electrics shop well maintained and organized.
• Maintain a safe working environment at all time
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in Technical Theatre/related field/comparable experience
• Basic knowledge of electrical work for professional theaters
• Capacity to solve problems and engage in creative thinking about challenges
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings from VectorWorks, LightWright, and AutoCAD
• Proficiency in theatrical lighting techniques as well as equipment operation and maintenance
• Knowledge and ability to program ETC EOS family of consoles
• Knowledge of wireless dimming protocols, and systems
• Knowledge of safety equipment and products, including lifts and counterweight systems
• Knowledge of safe rigging practices
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Understanding of the artistic process and interpersonal, teamwork, and diplomacy skills
