National Asian Artists Project—in partnership with PS 124 Yung Wing Elementary School in Chinatown and PS 48 in Brooklyn—will present a one-night-only performance of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying June 18 at 7:30 PM at New World Stages, Stage 3.
Directed by Cassey Kikuchi Kivnick with choreography by Kyle Garvin, the cast will feature Delphi Borich as Rosemary, Cáitlin Burke as Miss Jones, Ariel Estrada as Ovington/Tackaberry, Rona Figueroa as Smitty, Kennedy Kanagawa as Bud, Darren Lee as Mr. Biggly, Whit K. Lee as Finch, Jay Paranada as Twimble, David Shih as Womper/Book Voice, and Anne Fraser Thomas as Heddy, with Emily Ballou, Tuanminh Do, Brianna Kim, Joseph Lee, and Patricia Jane.
With a book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert and music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying follows the rise of a lowly window washer, who uses a little handbook called How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying to climb the corporate ladder and become a high-powered executive, finding love along the way.
The original Broadway production played 3 previews and 1,417 regular performances at the 46th Street Theatre October 12, 1961–March 6, 1965. Co-starring Robert Morse, Bonnie Scott, Charles Nelson Reilly, and Rudy Vallee, the production earned eight 1962 Tony nominations, winning seven, including Best Musical. The musical was also awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Broadway revivals were headed by Matthew Broderick and Daniel Radcliffe.
